From canvas manufacturing to global redeployable infrastructure.
Canvas and Tent was established in South Africa, initially producing tarpaulins and heavy-duty canvas products for the South African Railways. Over time the company expanded into high-performance canvas engineering and technical fabric structures, creating durable shelter systems suited to demanding environmental conditions.
As industries moved into increasingly remote locations, Canvas and Tent recognised the need for rapidly redeployable infrastructure to support teams in the field. This led to the development of our advanced redeployable tent systems and modular camp infrastructure.
Through ongoing engineering and product development, the BUSHTEC Redeployable Camp Solutions (RCS) brand was established after a collaboration between Weatherhaven and Canvas and Tent Manufacturing in 2002.

Martin Bester is the Director of Business Development with close to two decades of military experience and a further three years in technical textile sales. Since joining the Canvas and Tent Group in 2011, he has grown from product specialist to strategic partner, delivering integrated solutions across the military, mining, and disaster relief sectors. Martin combines operational insight with commercial acumen, driving growth through client engagement, product innovation, and tailored solution design. He is committed to building strong relationships and delivering meaningful, practical outcomes for complex operational environments. Outside of work, Martin enjoys photography, nature, and capturing aviation and landscapes through his lens.
René Liebenberg is a Sales Executive with more than a decade of experience across military, mining, and disaster relief sectors. His background spans operations, commercial strategy, and project management, giving him a hands-on, solutions-driven approach to client support. René is known for building trusted relationships and delivering tailored solutions in challenging environments. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family and friends in the bush.
Iris Marlenee Appalraju is a Sales Executive with just over a decade of experience in sales across the military, mining, and disaster relief sectors. She is recognised for her professionalism, long-term client relationships, and solutions-driven approach. Iris brings a deep understanding of client needs in complex, fast-paced environments. Outside of work, she is passionate about community upliftment and supports local food drive initiatives.
Sean-Michael Dressé is an Africa Mining Sales Executive with almost two decades of experience across underground and open-pit mining operations. He specialises in mining technologies, safety systems, PPE, and full-scale camp infrastructure, guiding clients from design through to installation and support. Sean-Michael combines technical expertise with strong commercial insight, supported by formal qualifications in business, sales, and negotiation. Outside of work, he is a dedicated football enthusiast and former amateur player and coach.
