Project background
In the early 1970s, we partnered with military technical units to develop a rugged, rapidly redeployable shelter for mobile teams operating in remote environments. The project would become the foundation of one of our most recognised redeployable shelter systems.
Military teams needed lightweight infrastructure that could be transported easily, redeployed quickly and withstand demanding field conditions. Existing shelter systems were often too heavy, complex and impractical for highly mobile operations.
Working directly with military personnel, we developed the 2.4m x 2.4m Bow tent, a compact, durable shelter engineered for rapid redeployment. Following its success, a larger 3m x 3m version was introduced for Air Force operations, later becoming known as the “Chopper tent”.
The Bow tent became a trusted military shelter solution and remains recognised decades later. Its longevity stands as a testament to practical design, durability and field-proven performance.
